We are the change

wake up

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”
II Chronicles 7:14 -15

We are dealing with a famine of compassion, justice, dignity and empathy and a dire need for change and healing.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

I am a spiritual being living a human experience and I see things in a spiritual context as much as I do the physical. I may compare things of late to medical maladies (e.g. epidemic, plague, disease, etc.) but I also examine it and see the spiritual maladies.

“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21

Christ’s recommendation to fast and pray isn’t just applicable to the spiritual warfare and the disease of injustice, the legacy of racial terror, or even the division and apathy in and out of the Church but it’s also applicable to the lack of belief people may have in the power of fasting, praying and God’s ability to change hearts and heal this land.

And yes, Jesus addressed racial/ethnic divisions…Jews and Samaritans anyone? The church was active and involved during the Civil Rights movement…but the fact that Dr. King had to address fellow white clergy who opposed and called the Civil Rights protests “extreme” (Letter from a Birmingham Jail), the hard hearts and ignorance of many (in the church) and the fact that Sunday at 11am is still the most segregated hour of the week makes me want to holler. Body of Christ…I admonish us to
